Trapeze Setup
The simplest way to install it is using an exposed beam in your house, garage or porch. You could also use the top bar on a swing set or a tree branch which is very simple. You just hang the rope over and hook in. View the setup instructions here.
Please use this link below to help you with this type of installation: Yoga Trapeze Bolt Setup.
We suggest the trapeze hangs about hip height so that you can get in and out without difficulty.
From the carabiner to the base of the trapeze is approximately 50 inches (125 cm). The longest handle is approximately 53 inches (134 cm). However, you should allow for more space when hanging the trapeze, as the ropes add at least six inches or so.
Yes, many people use this as a simple way to hang the trapeze.
Approximately 60cm. To find the width another way, we recommend you stand with your arms outstretched. Bend your arms and point your hands at a 90 degree angle towards the ceiling. This should be the distance between bolts.
Yes, of course. Because it can be set up and taken down easily, many people love to take the trapeze for afternoons in the park or in the backyard.
General Questions
We have student of all ages, including in their 60s and 70s using the Yoga Trapeze. However, it’s best to talk to your doctor first.
The maximum weight on the Yoga Trapeze is 350 pounds (158 kg) and weight tested for up to 600 pounds (272 kg). Although, the strength of where you hang it is generally the limiting factor. Please be sure that wherever you hang the trapeze can support your weight.
If the trapeze is digging into either your back or your thighs, it means you have not positioned it correctly. When you sit in the trapeze, it should only cover a small area from your upper thighs to the middle of your bottom. Imagine you are sitting in a tire swing–that is how you should position yourself in the trapeze. Be sure to check out our tutorials and videos to get all the proper alignment instructions.
The trapeze can certainly help with back pain and flexibility. To get rid of lower back pain, we would suggest starting with a few minutes a day just hanging upside down. It’s good for your spine and it feels great. Also try to do daily stretching on it, even for just 15 minutes a day. That will make a big difference.
Inversions are usually not recommend for people with high blood pressure, but check with your doctor as that is not always the case.
For some people, inversions can make them feel a bit dizzy at first. Your body simply has to adjust. You should be able to use the trapeze without any nausea or dizziness after some practicing. Take your time, go slowly, and remember to breathe. Drink lots of water and don’t forget to listen to your body. Most people find this sensation passes very quickly.
There’s no reason this should be a problem, but as always, listen to your body.
Trapeze Exercises
Supported side splits is a really intense pose you can do in the trapeze. It usually takes a minute or two just to get down in it. You use the trapeze handles to lower yourself down, reaching your arms above your head and lowering yourself down slowly.
You’ve got to be really, really careful with your neck. In terms of using the Yoga Trapeze, we would certainly suggest having someone assist you or someone nearby who can support you if needed. Be sure to take it very slow; no fast movements, no dynamic movements. Use the gravity traction (just the passive hangs) in the trapeze.
It’s easy—just take it slow and gently lower yourself back while holding the long handles. Wrap your legs around the trapeze and hook your feet. If you hook your feet correctly you should be completely secure. If you are worried, have a friend there to spot you the first time until you build confidence. Check out our tutorial videos for a better idea of how to do this.

Yes. You’ll feel safe and secure practicing on the Yoga Trapeze Stand.
The shipping cost is just too high at the moment. We’re working on solutions and international distribution. We too are outside the US most of the year, so this is important to us, as well!
Ceiling Hooks
The hooks can hold up to 300 pounds each (600 lbs total)—the strength of your wooden beam or concrete ceiling is usually the limiting factor.
NOTE: You must check your mounting with a professional before using the Yoga Trapeze or other inversion device.
NOTE: You must check your mounting with a professional before using the Yoga Trapeze or other inversion device.
- Base diameter: 4.8 inches
- Height: 3.3 inches
- Ceiling bolts: 3 inches
- Wooden screws: 3.4 inches
The minimum ceiling height we recommend is 94 inches (240 cm), but 118 inches (300 cm) or more is ideal.
The Yoga Trapeze hangs 50 inches (125 cm) from carabiners to the seat. Allow for at least a few extra inches when hanging it with the ropes and using the bar. The longest handle of the Yoga Trapeze is 53 inches (134 cm) long.
- For concrete, you’ll need a 6 mm concrete drill bit and a 12 mm bit to create the bolt holes. You’ll also need a hammer drill.
- or wood, you’ll want to drill pilot holes with a 6 mm wood bit. You’ll need a standard high-powered drill.
Everyone has a different body and different preferences, but 27 inches (70 cm) is a standard width.
Every order includes two Ceiling Hooks and two sets of bolts (one set for wood and and set for concrete). You need both Ceiling Hooks to mount the Yoga Trapeze. For a punching bag or porch furniture, one hook might be enough.
Yes, with a minimum order of 10 units. Please contact us for details.
Awesome Toes®
Yes. We recommend you wear them inside socks, slippers, flip flops, or barefoot around your house. This is one of the simplest ways to help fix your feet and it’s more effective than just wearing them while sitting or sleeping.
Most minimal footwear running shoes work great with Awesome Toes!, as they have a toe-width appropriate for natural foot shapes. Common minimal footwear include NikeFree, Lems, and Merrell. If in doubt, take your toe spacers with you when trying on a new pair. They should fit comfortably without pressure.
They do not hurt, but they can be intense, especially at first and especially if you’re sitting or lying down. The sensation is that of a deep stretch or numbness, and this is often stronger when you’re inactive. This is yet another reason why we encourage active-wear use of Awesome Toes! You’ll get faster results with less discomfort.
Initially, aim for about one hour per day. Eventually, you’ll work up to four hours or more. I currently wear mine for about eight hours daily (comfortably), but that took months to work up to.
Flexibility changes can be very long lasting, but keep in mind that if you continue to spend most of your day in restrictive footwear, you’ll very likely end up with squished feet again. If you’re able to change your daily shoes to more natural footwear and use Awesome Toes! you’ll see amazing results.
Yes, for sure. High heels wreak havoc on your feet. If you wear them daily, you’ll be fighting an uphill battle, but you still need to fight! Some of our most avid users are people who have to wear high heels every day.
Hurts So Good!® Massage Balls
Athletes have used various types of balls for myofascial release and self-massage for years, but the big difference is the size and the feel of Hurts So Good! Massage Balls. Our jumbo massage balls allow you to work deeply and effectively into the biggest trouble areas of the body, such as the back, quads, and hamstrings. The natural rubber (with a firm yet soft texture) mimics a human hand or elbow, making them more comfortable and effective as a treatment tool.
Yes. These massage balls are very powerful, so you’ll want to start off slowly. If you go too deep too fast, it is possible to create soreness.
In the case of an injury, always consult a medical professional first. There is a period of acute inflammation and discomfort with all injuries, usually the first one to three days, during which time it’s usually counter-productive to do any type of massage. When inflammation decreases, intelligent and careful massage can increase circulation to the affected area, clear toxins, and help the new tissue organize correctly for proper function.
As a general rule, after is best. Deep massage encourages your stretch reflex to turn off, down-regulates your nervous system, and loosens up your soft tissue. For all those reasons, self-massage is best done after any type of speed, strength, or balance routine.
Most of our students love to use Hurts So Good! Massage Balls right before bed. Many people also have a pair in their office, which they use on their shoulders and back halfway through the day to break up tension. Do what works best for you.
Hurts So Good! Massage Balls are meant to supplement, not replace, professional health care. If you have access and financial means, it’s always a great idea to work with an in-person therapist, as well.
Yes. At YOGABODY Studios in Barcelona, Spain, we have MyoStretch classes that include Hurts So Good! self-massage techniques.
We recommend five to 15 minutes, but anything you can do will be helpful. Self-care is always a balancing act, so just do your best. People generally find it easiest to remember and follow through with their practice before bed.
Hurts So Good! Massage Balls are made with eco-friendly, all-natural rubber. This has the best feel and practical use. Unlike plastic balls that stay shiny forever (and don’t work well), Hurts So Good! Massage Balls will age and eventually wear out—but that’s OK. They work so much better and are non-toxic, so it’s worth replacing them every couple of years.

General Questions
No. At YOGABODY, we feel that your personal beliefs and lifestyle choices are yours to make freely. We reject group-think and dogma, and encourage our teachers to be themselves and find their own path. We don't offer answers or belief systems; instead, we offer tools and practices that will hopefully lead you to find your own truths.
No. These modalities are not part of the YOGABODY system. We teach yoga, breathing, anatomy, nutrition, and seated meditation practices. Those are our tools and our focus.
If you can use a computer, phone, and write an email, you'll do just fine. We leverage new technology for learning, but the technology we use is simple by design.

Yoga Teachers College®
After leading courses for over a decade, the most common feedback from trainees is: "I wish I had more time." Short, intense learning is wonderful for small bits of information, but for the extensive curriculum we offer at the Yoga Teachers College, you need more time to absorb and retain information, and then integrate your acquired knowledge into your classes. Next level training requires next level commitment in terms of time—it's just that simple.
No. You cannot become a fully qualified teacher without the live classes with your trainers. Distance learning is the future of education, and to be a qualified yoga teacher, the online-live modules are an absolute must.
If you are not able to find time for this, then it's not the right course for you. We're looking to train next-level teachers, which requires a big commitment.
Everyone struggles with self-motivation, that's normal. We've structured this program so that you have at-home assignments coupled with personal mentorship and group accountability. If you slack off for more than a few days, your phone will start ringing. We're here to support you, motivate you, and help everyone graduate together.
The best teachers are the best students—no exceptions. To be a well-informed, well-trained teacher you need a certain quantity and diversity of training that is only possible when you take lots of classes. Your 100 classes need to be logged during your 6-month training period, and you need to take notes on them in your practice journal. You'll see, as you transition from a student to a teacher, you'll begin to experience and learn from classes in a whole new way.
Your course consists of 8-weeks online immersions, 2 blocks of 4 weeks each. Prior to the start and during the online immersions, you have eLearning and yoga practice assignments. The eLearning component consists of 24 online modules—hyper-focused classes you’ll find immediately useful for your teaching, your practice, and your career. These online classes are video and audio-based and include simple quizzes that you’ll review live with your training team. During your at-home modules, you’ll work directly with your practice journal and with your trainers to make sure you get the most from the experience. In a typical week, we recommend you plan to take three to five yoga classes online or in person and set aside two to five hours for eLearning tasks.
We cannot guarantee employment opportunities within our company since there are many issues to consider before making that kind of offer. We do, of course, often hire from our own training groups, but this is on a case-by-case basis, and it would not be realistic to plan for this. What we do guarantee is that with our help in module IV, you'll land your first paid teaching gig.
No. Co-owning a business is a huge commitment both personally and professionally, not unlike marriage, and not something we can promise. In most cases, we recommend having silent partners or no business partners at all for our yoga studio business model. This type of business often works better with less cooks in the kitchen.
No. We have no interest in telling you what color shirt to wear or how to run your business. Instead, we want to show you what we do, allowing you to take what you like and leave the rest. For teachers who would like to represent our YOGABODY brand, we do have an authorized teacher program available to select graduates. For those who want to open YOGABODY-branded studios, we have a very cost-effective and simple studio license program that makes it affordable for you to copy what we're doing in your hometown.
The Yoga Teachers College is here to provide you with the highest level yoga education possible. What you decide to do with it is completely up to you. Nowadays, yoga is growing faster outside traditional yoga studios than in them, so many graduates are getting creative with how, where, and what they teach. We love it!
All graduates are required to score a minimum of 85 percent on all tests and assessments. Each eLearning module has a quiz or test, and during your online live immersions, you’ll be assessed numerous times. In the case of a low score, you’ll always have the opportunity to go back, review your studies, and try again; but under no circumstances will we sell teaching degrees or tolerate incompetence. This is a serious program and our graduates earn their credentials.
Like any job, salaries vary. CNN Money just did a report that found the average senior teacher (teaching 7+ years) was making $67K/year, and some teachers were earning more than $100k/year. Teaching yoga does not put you on the fast track to wealth, but it can be lucrative and surprisingly profitable if you are business-minded. We find most starting teachers earn $20k-$30K/year in traditional teaching gigs, and as much as double that in non-traditional settings, such as schools, hospitals, and corporate programs.
After working with dozens of studios and consulting with many, many more, it's safe to say the average net profit for the owner-operator of your typical one-room, local yoga studio is around $40k/year. Owning two studios is never double the work (it's more like 20 percent more work), so many studio owners expand into multiple locations over time so they can reach a comfortable six-figure income.
That all depends on you. There are so many different ways to design your life. We have YOGABODY teachers that teach 15 classes per week, have a regular work schedule, and take two days off just like a 'normal' job. We have teachers that teach one or two weekend workshops per month around the world. And we have other teachers (like Lucas) who spend most of their time creating platforms for other teachers to shine. Each person is unique, and as time goes on, your interests and focus will change. What's best for you is what's best for you. We're here to open doors and create opportunities.
We recommend six months for the training period. Some can complete it faster, and you could take up to 12 months (max) to complete the course. At the recommended pace of one module per week, six months is a good target length. If you're concerned about going more quickly or slowly, simply talk with your teaching mentor to see if it's an option.
Online Yoga Trapeze Teacher Training
Yes, you certainly can—but it all depends on you. If you have a background in yoga, Pilates, or dance instruction, you’ll pick this up very quickly. If you’ve never taught anything before, we’d for sure recommend you utilize your 100% tuition credit to join a live course this year or apprentice or assist locally to get your practical experience.
No problem, you can double up your students on another day. The suggested pace is 2 hours per day, but you can arrange that any way you like.
No, that wouldn’t be fair. We require an 85% or higher score on all exams, and participation throughout the course. You have up to three tries on all exams, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you show up and give 100%, you will almost certainly be successful.
No. The Yoga Trapeze is different. We added handles, lowered the rig, and made the sling smaller so it’s a fitness tool that anyone can use. Those dance and circus movements you see online not what we teach. We teach very safe and simple poses for everyone.
Yes! The Yoga Trapeze is taught professionally in 21 countries, and it’s extremely safe. This is not aerial silks or aerial arts where you are flying from the ceiling 3 meters high. We stay waist-height, never swing, and only practice safe and functional poses—not performance poses.
You’ll study online with video-based classes. This is particularly effective for learning pose names, anatomical names, and basic sequences. We also have two live webinars, during which you can ask questions, get answers, and prepare for the course.
As long as you have access to a phone or computer, you’ll have no problems. It’s a very low-tech course designed for everyone.
That’s fine! As long as you’re serious about learning, we’re happy to invite you to the course.
That’s great… just ask! This is an at-home course, but it contains real-time interaction so you can ask questions, get help, and talk with Lucas and training team throughout the course.
Yes! The minimum is 10 rigs, and once you sign up for the course, you qualify for a wholesale account.
Other Online Courses
Yes. The YOGABODY Teacher’s College® pioneered online professional yoga training, and it’s important to note that this is a live interactive course. Our standards are extremely high, and we’ll guide you through every step of the process all the way to your final assessment.
