To Future Coaches

From Lucas Rockwood [ERYT-500]

If you’re passionate about helping people build stronger spines, move with confidence, and overcome back pain, I’d invite you to apply for our upcoming Spine Reform™ Coach Certification.

Here are three reasons it’s a great time to become a coach:
  1. 1. Growing Demand

Back pain is the leading cause of disability worldwide, affecting hundreds of millions of people every year. Doctors almost always recommend corrective exercises, yet very few movement professionals specialize in evidence-based solutions.

For coaches, this creates a unique opportunity to tap into an underserved market, differentiate your services, and build a thriving practice.

  2. 2. Meaningful Work

As many as 90 percent of people are diagnosed with “non-specific back pain,” meaning there is no clear structural cause or medical treatment. Exercise is usually the most effective long-term strategy, but people are stuck trying to figure out what to do, how much to do, and whether they’re making progress or creating more problems.

As a Spine Reform Coach, you’ll provide the guidance, structure, and support people need to regain strength, restore mobility, and rebuild confidence in their bodies. This work is purposeful, and it feels rewarding to create a space for healing.

  3. 3. Freedom and Opportunity

As a specialist, you’ll earn 2-3x more than typical fitness instructors while serving clients with a clear and urgent need. You can work independently, teach online, in studios, or in clients’ homes.

Whether you’re new to the fitness industry or an established professional, adding a new skill and service, the Spine Reform™ Coach Certification will give you the tools, confidence, and credentials to stand out and have a meaningful impact in your community.

Why Not Doctors?

The mainstream medical system is amazing for acute care, but not for chronic pain – the infrastructure is simply not there. At the same time, doctors regularly recommend patients stay active, exercise, and stretch – but what exactly does that mean?

Some people go to the gym or try to piece together a routine from YouTube. Others use stretching charts or books, but sadly, most end up with the “wait and see” approach.

The evidence is clear: sedentary recovery invites recurring yo-yo cycles in and out of pain.

Movement is medicine when it comes to healing, and that’s where you, as a coach, can help people heal through progressive strength, balance, and stretching routines, coupled with mindfulness, breathing, and decompression.

How Corrective Exercises Work

Spine injuries often trigger a complex biological response that includes inflammation, protective muscle activation, and simultaneous muscle inhibition in surrounding areas.

Without exercise, inflammation can accumulate, underactive muscles can atrophy, and hypertonic muscles can create referral pain.

Corrective exercises have been the leading intervention in sports medicine for decades because they support your body’s natural healing processes.

As with most things in health, success with exercise relies on consistent, progressive implementation. As a coach, you provide your clients with the support and education they need – and that’s how you truly make a difference.

What You’ll Learn

Strength

A resilient spine depends on strong core muscles, including the rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, and obliques. Equally important are the muscles of the lower back, including the multifidus, erector spinae, and quadratus lumborum.

Through smart week-by-week progressions, you’ll guide clients through controlled bodyweight exercises, isometrics, pulses, and progressive movement patterns designed to improve spinal stability and confidence.

Strength

Flexibility

Restricted mobility is often a contributing factor in back pain and, left unaddressed, can slow recovery.

Targeted stretching helps restore movement in the posterior chain and hips, allowing clients to move more freely and reducing unnecessary stress on the spine during daily activities and exercise.

Flexibility

Balance

People with chronic pain often demonstrate impaired balance and significant right-to-left asymmetries during screening.

Balance training improves body awareness, coordination, and confidence while helping clients develop the movement skills needed to stay active and resilient.

Balance

Traction

Did you know that you’re 1-2 cm taller in the morning? Spinal discs decompress and rehydrate overnight, and this is a big part of why lying flat can relieve pain for many. This decompression effect can be mimicked through exercise, and while the effect is not as dramatic as a full night’s sleep, it’s often enough to provide immediate, natural pain relief.

In this course, you’ll learn safe, simple traction techniques using minimal equipment that your clients can apply as part of their self-care routine.

Traction

Breath

During episodes of back pain, breathing patterns often become restricted or inefficient.

Through breathing exercises, including three-phase breathing, clients can restore more natural breathing mechanics while using breath as a tool to reduce tension, improve movement quality, and support recovery.

Breath

Mindfulness

Research shows that observing physical sensations with curiosity and without judgment can reduce the intensity and distress associated with pain.

Mindfulness is not mystical or esoteric. It’s an evidence-based skill that helps clients separate physical sensation from emotional reactivity and develop a healthier relationship with discomfort.

Mindfulness

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ll be trained as a movement specialist, not a medical expert. We do not diagnose, treat, or cure back problems. Instead, we work with our clients with approval from their medical professionals to use movement to accelerate healing.
If you’re able to watch videos online, you are tech savvy enough for the course. Live classes are on Zoom, and replays are accessible via our web and phone apps.
Classes run Monday through Friday for two weeks, with two hours per day of live training on Zoom at 3pm Spain / 2pm London / 9am NYC. If the live time doesn’t work for you, replays are uploaded within two hours so you can follow along in your own time zone.
Over 600 million people have back pain each year. Your potential clients are everywhere – literally. Most coaches can find their first clients quickly through their own connections online or in-person, and soon referrals will make up the bulk of your work. You’ll quickly discover how widespread and underserved this market truly is.
Rates vary based on geography and your experience, but often $300-500 per client per month. Most coaches work part time with 3-8 clients, some work more with up to 15 clients.
You’ll be a movement specialist, not practicing medicine or providing medical services. It’s a smart question and we’ll help you ensure the language you’re using on your marketing materials positions you accurately and legally in all markets.
It’s not recommended. While small group and workshops could work, this program is designed specifically for one-on-one, bespoke customization.
