Do You Have a Weak Pelvic Floor?
You’re not alone. By middle age, 30% of women have some type of pelvic floor health challenge, and roughly 10-15% of men do too.
The most common complaint is incontinence where you accidentally leak urine when you laugh, jump, lift, or sneeze. This is often accompanied by poor bowel control or irregular bowels.
Women often lose vaginal tone and might struggle with organ prolapse from giving birth or aging. For men, premature ejaculation is extremely common and a weak pelvic floor is a huge causal factor.
You know that lack of muscle strength affects your ability to lift and carry, but few people realize that a weak pelvic floor is a similar muscle weakness – just in an area of the body that isn’t visible or obvious.

My Pelvic Floor Story

My Pelvic Floor Story
In yoga, we call engaging the pelvic floor Mula Bandha (“root lock”). It’s an ancient practice of activating and controlling this area through poses and breathwork. Yoga students have been doing this for over 500 years.
I started yoga with a very traditional approach, learning pelvic floor engagement as a tool for balance, stability, and breath control—long before I realized its benefits for bladder health, posture, and sexual function.
But here’s the recurring problem: in both yoga and physical therapy, the pelvic floor is often treated like a mystery. Most students end up confused or discouraged because of the complexity in how it’s taught.
The truth? Your pelvic floor muscles are just like any others. They can be trained, strengthened, and toned—at any age.
Is This Class Right for You?
If pelvic floor issues are affecting your life and what you’ve tried so far hasn’t helped, it’s time to take charge and commit to a small, daily routine of corrective exercises. Not every condition is fully reversible, but nearly all can be improved significantly in just a few weeks, and substantially in a few months.
