The Coaching Opportunity

Stress levels are at an all-time high, and people are desperate for safe, at-home solutions. Breathing is an active form of mindfulness, making it more accessible and less intimidating than meditation.

There are three main opportunities for coaches right now: private clients, group classes in fitness centers, and corporate work. On the low end, our graduates earn $70 per hour, and for corporate work and group classes, some of our graduates earn $200+ per hour.

With private clients, you’ll meet them in-person or online once per week, and you’ll guide students through a comprehensive foundational training. Group classes at fitness studios are offered as active meditation or guided recovery classes. Lastly, you’ll learn to teach workshop-style group programs for corporate clients and conferences.

My Breathing Story

I was first introduced to pranayama (breathing) through yoga. My early teachers in New York City constantly reminded me to use ujjayi breathing (ocean breath) and to count to four on the way in and four on the way out. I learned alternative nostril and breath of fire practices in the Sivananda Ashram in India.

Breathing is the secret ingredient that makes yoga so powerful, and while everyone acknowledged its importance, oddly, no one could explain to me how or why it worked.

Frustrated, I turned to the mainstream medical community and dove deep into the published literature around respiratory physiology and the nervous system. I sought out teachers beyond the yoga community, and quickly, the pieces of the puzzle came together.

Medical doctor, Patricia Gerbarg’s book, The Healing Power of the Breath, and our subsequent interviews were formative. I also worked closely with a senior Buteyko breathing coach, Jac Vidgen, who taught me about the vital role of CO2 for normalizing over-breathing and coaching asthmatics. I later went on to interview best-selling authors, free divers, and extreme daredevils like Wim Hof, who push breathing to the limits (not something I advocate).

Like many things in health, breathing is often presented as an over-complicated, mile wide area of study. But when you dial things back to first principles, you’ll quickly learn breathing is simple, replicable, and learnable at any stage of life. No gurus or medical degrees are needed. Breathing is a powerful tool for everyone.

 

How it Works

This 10-day course runs over two weeks and combines academic learning, practice teaching, and applied breathwork. Each day includes two hours of live, interactive training and three short at-home practices.

How it Works

In the first hour, you’ll learn one specific breathing technique in depth, first as a student, then as a teacher. Next, we move into our module of the day where we delve into the academic knowledge you’ll need to deliver amazing sessions for your clients.

In the second hour, you’ll learn how to synchronize breath and movement for optimal results and recovery. You’ll learn Sun Salutations, how to breathe during resistance training, cardiovascular training, and during recovery.

NOTE: this module includes seated, breath-only training, but also extensive movement training, including Sun Salutes, standing poses, brace breath (for lifting), and recovery breath for sports.

As homework, you’ll receive three unique five-minute breathing exercises daily—morning, afternoon, and evening—to help balance your nervous system and prepare you to guide clients through the same practices.

All sessions are taught live on Zoom, and recordings are available within an hour for those who cannot attend class in real time. This is a structured, day-by-day program designed for consistent practice and engagement—not a weekend crash course.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the education, confidence, and real-world teaching experience needed to start working professionally—whether with private clients, in studios, or in corporate settings.

Our seated practices lay the foundations for nervous system training, and the in-action portion of the course helps you to teach your students how to apply what they’re learning to the most common everyday use cases: vinyasa yoga, strength and resistance training, cardio recovery, stress management, and performance.

Yes. YOGABODY pioneered online professional yoga training, and it’s important to note that this is a live, interactive course. Our standards are extremely high, and we’ll guide you through every step of the process all the way to your final assessment.
If you miss a live session, that’s no problem, but do your best to keep up with the day-to-day lessons with the replays.
No, that wouldn’t be fair or provide any value. We require an 85% or higher score on all exams, and participation throughout the course. You have up to three tries on all exams, and we’re here to support you every step of the way. If you show up and give 100%, you will almost certainly be successful.
We only teach safe practices applicable to all people, regardless of age or condition. There are many extreme, daredevil breathing programs online—that is not us. This is a therapeutic, self-care system that’s extremely powerful, but safe and simple.
You’ll learn movements such as Sun Salute A and B, Cat-Cow breathing, Moon Squats, bracing breath for weightlifting, and recovery breathing after high intensity activity. You don’t need a high level of physical fitness, but you should be willing to get up and move. This is a Breath Coach certification, not a personal training certification.
We have both a mobile app and a web app that you’ll have lifetime access to. All your lectures, guided practices, business resources, and teaching resources are easily accessible from your phone or your computer.
