Dear Future Podcaster,

If you love podcasts and want to launch your own show; if you have a specific niche topic that you’re passionate about; and if you’re excited to learn how podcasts can help build a community, allow you to network with your heroes, and earn a great side income…

… then I’d love to invite you to join my Podcast Startup Bootcamp.

Top 5 Reasons to Start a Podcast:

  • Earn Great Income. I’ll show you how you could earn hundreds or even thousands of dollars per month working two hours per week in your spare time, after hours, or even on the weekends.

  • Build & Serve Your Community. The big networks like Instagram and Youtube pale in comparison to podcasts for creating a hardcore community that knows, likes, and trusts you. When your audience listens to you for 30-60 minutes per week, that is a true fan, and it builds a lasting community that you can serve.

  • Learn & Grow. Have you ever heard of a “meta-skill?” Meta-skills are abilities that make you better at dozens of different things. If you learn to run fast, for example, you will likely excel in many sports. With podcasting, you’ll learn to speak well, interview well, and communicate effectively. The meta-skill of podcasting will make you better in the boardroom, at home, and in every communication setting in life.

  • Meet Your Heroes. I’ve interviewed the authors of some of the most-influential books I’ve ever read. I’ve had compelling conversations with Hollywood celebrities, and I’ve provided a platform to some hidden heroes who I’ve admired yet who remained relatively unknown. I even had a billionaire on my show.

NOTE: I’m a terrible networker, and I’m not very social at all. For me, these experiences could only happen through my podcast.

  • Establish Authority. Each week, I talk to people smarter than me. With each interview, I take pages of notes and integrate what I learn into my own work in real time. By having conversations with thought leaders, it gives me authority with my community. Even more importantly, I learn so much that I gain real authority through knowledge.

Here’s how I got started in podcasting…

In 2012, my customer service manager wasn’t into yoga or health (my fault) so she would get stuck, unable to answer many of the inquiries we get each day. I love to teach and never like to leave questions unanswered, so we came up with a simple idea: what if I answered customer service inquiries in batches via audio and we published it to iTunes in a Q&A-style podcast?

I opened up Audacity (free audio recording software), pressed “record,” and off I went. On my early shows, I answered yoga questions, nutrition questions, detox questions, and all the usual FAQs you’d expect my audience to send in. It was dry and boring. My natural speaking voice is mumble-y and nasally, so I didn’t think anyone was listening…

… but then people started sending me thank-you letters almost daily. It was so rewarding for me to know that I was able to help people. So I kept doing it. I’m a teacher, and I get real satisfaction when something I’ve learned can help someone.

The show started with dozens of listeners, then hundreds, and eventually thousands (today I reach about 100k people per month).

After I saw the response to the show, I took a step back and made a pivot. My own brain trust was limited, so I started bringing on guests to add new voices to the show. My speaking voice was still terrible and my interview skills were a disaster, but people kept listening. Why? Because the shows had real value.

But…

… I had no business plan.

… I didn’t know one single podcaster personally.

… I had no idea what I was doing.

I just knew that I loved learning, I had listeners, and I would keep doing this as long as it was of value. Fast forward to today. I have over 550 5-star reviews in iTunes (and that’s just in the USA). I’ve published nearly 400 shows, and I’ve interviewed people that have changed my life and the lives of my listeners. I run into listeners on the street and in airports around the world. I’m invited to speak at events, I’m often a podcast guest now myself, and my podcast even helped land me on the TEDx stage in 2018.

Do I make money? Yes, I generate a very sizeable income working about two hours per week on this show (I do many other things too of course). Note: I don’t make a full-time living from podcasting and don’t suggest that you will either. When you spend two hours per week on something, you should have realistic expectations.

Do I have fun? Yes, it’s one of the most enjoyable things I do.

Am I proud of it? Yes, it’s one the things I’m most proud of in my career.

Has it changed me? I’ve changed my diet, my lifestyle, my yoga teaching, and even my mindset as a result of people I’ve had on my show. I’ve also met some lifelong colleagues, partners, and even employees I’d never have otherwise met.

Why Learn From Me?

For people new to podcasting, I’m a great person to learn from because a) I’m not a celebrity, b) I’m not an influencer, c) I created a passion-focused show with my primary object to learn and share, d) I’m low tech and all about keeping it simple, and e) I have a proven track-record for success.

My show has steadily grown over the years into the strongest media asset I own. I have over 350k fans on Facebook, 60k subscribers on Youtube, and 105k followers in Instagram, but my podcast today is stronger than all of them combined. Why is podcasting stronger than social media? It’s simple: My shows from years ago continue to get listened to—it ages very well. A social media post from a week ago is already dead, but my podcast work is evergreen.

Costumer’s Review

   563 Reviews

My Show Stats:

  • Average 100k listens per month

  • Nearly 400 shows published

  • 550+ 5-star reviews (just in the USA)

Today, I get about 25 percent “yes” responses to interview requests from the authors I read and love. I’m a book nerd, so just this in itself is worth it. I’ve built an extremely loyal following of listeners in 23 countries. People recognize me on the street, hire me for consultation, and do business with YOGABODY because of the relationship they have with me from listening to my show.

This Is Not a Get-Rich-Quick Plan

Podcasting is a new media opportunity, just like blogging or social media. Every media property has its strengths and weaknesses, and none are get-rich-quick plans. Can you earn money with podcasting? Absolutely, and I’ll show you exactly how to get there. But should you jump into this assuming you can replace your fulltime income podcasting for four to six hours per month? No, that’s not realistic.

I always say you don’t make money, you earn it, and this is more true than in anything in podcasting. You earn your listeners trust, their loyalty, and a piece of real estate on their phone or in their car during their commute. This earned asset is very valuable, and it can be turned into real business but you have to put in the work.

What Will Your Show Be About?

The best shows have a niche theme and involve something that you have personal experience in and you are passionate about. Here is a shortlist of some potential show themes, but you can quickly come up with dozens more based on your personal interests. Sample show ideas:

  • Fit After 50 Show

  • Moms with Twins Podcast

  • Healthy Eating on a Budget Podcast

  • Stress Killer Show

  • Living with Autism

  • Living with Depression / Anxiety

  • Life After Loss Podcast

  • The Midlife Crisis Show

  • Religion [anything] Show

  • Politics [anything] Show

  • The Live to Travel Podcast

  • The Happy Executive

  • Public Speaking Podcast

  • Leadership for Introverts

  • The Sales Pro Show

  • Retire Happy & Healthy Show

  • Religion [anything] Show

  • Politics [anything] Show

  • The Live to Travel Podcast

  • The Happy Executive

  • Public Speaking Podcast

  • Leadership for Introverts

  • The Sales Pro Show

  • Retire Happy & Healthy Show

NOTE: The highest interest show themes revolve around health, wealth, and relationships or all three. If you want to create a show about fit single mothers but there is already a show like that, don’t let that stop you. In many cases, if there is already a show, it’s a great sign there is a listener base out there that wants more!
Podcasting Myth vs. Reality

MYTH

  • Podcasters have to be extroverts, big talkers, and conversationalists.

  • You need an expensive Macbook, a $500 mic, and a professional sound studio to record.

  • You need to hire an editor.

  • You need to be famous already.

  • This is a full-time job and requires a huge time commitment.

  • You can never make any money podcasting.

  • No one will listen.

  • No one listens to podcasts.

REALITY

  • I’m an introvert. I can’t small talk to save my life, and I have no networking skills at all.

  • I record from a PC laptop with a cheap mic and free software.

  • Audio is really easy to work with. I edited my first 200 shows myself and can still do it today if needed.

  • I’m not famous, and most podcasters are completely unknown outside of their podcasts. The celebrity podcasts are extremely rare and not that interesting.

  • When I was at my slowest, I spent three hours per week on it. Now I spend two.

  • Spotify just bought two podcasting companies for $340 million. Advertising rates on podcasts are higher than any other media in the world, including television. Can you make money with your show? Absolutely. Will it happen overnight? No.

  • This is the weird thing about podcasting: if you choose a good niche theme, you’ll have listeners from day one. Audio people (like me) are so crazy about podcasts, they go hunting for the next show to fill their earbuds. Will you have hundreds of listeners right away? No, but you’ll get there fast. You’ll be surprised how quickly you’ll crack 1,000 listeners per show if you follow my process.

  • 26% of Americans listen to podcasts each month, and that number is growing. And these are super-engaged listeners.

Tech Requirements

Please don’t spend a fortune on equipment. It’s totally unnecessary. Plus, you’d have to learn how to use it which is a pain. I’ll show you a dead-simple, ultra-fast setup you can use on any computer to sound like a pro. Really, it’s so easy. Don’t stress about it at all. Here’s what you need:

  • Computer or laptop (PC or Mac, doesn’t matter)

  • Fast internet connection

  • A microphone

NOTE: You’ll find all kinds of expensive setups and suggestions online. Ignore all that. I’ve been podcasting on a cheap mic using free software for nearly 400 episodes⸺and my show sounds better than some shows done in professional studios. Tech is not the problem, so don’t waste time with it right now. You probably already have everything you need. I’ll show you how to use what you already have to record a great show.

Frequently Asked Questions
Me too. As long as you have a computer, a mic, and an internet connection, you can make a great podcast.
Plan for at least two hours per week. If you have more time, you can get ahead, plan more shows, and get even more from our work together.
Yes, this course is taught 100% by me, and you’ll have real-time access to me via our Facebook group and Messenger chat any time.
Assuming you have a computer and a mic, the only other cost to consider is your show’s hosting fees ($5/month to start), and perhaps some basic graphic design costs (no more than $25, and possibly free).
My daughter took my photo (seriously) and I designed my original show icon. If you know Canva or Photoshop, you can do it yourself. Otherwise, I’ll show you how to hire someone to do it for you in 24 hours for $5-10 online. Don’t stress over this; it’s not a problem.
I don’t recommend it. It’s too slow and managing all the files is a big hassle. You need a computer or a laptop to podcast effectively.
No, many podcasters don’t even have websites.
No, but it’s a great idea long term so we offer a done-for-you service if you’d like.
It’s fast, easy, and there is no software to learn. Some online courses are so tedious to login and use that people get frustrated. We use a Facebook group and Facebook Messenger because it’s so simple, it’s real-time, and we can talk and engage instantly. It’s perfect.
No. Oddly, marketing for podcasts doesn’t really work. To this day, most shows still spread via word-of-mouth, so the best marketing is investing in creating a great show.
About Me

I’m a quiet, introverted guy. Normally, I mumble when I talk, I speak about 250 words per minute (way too fast), and my natural voice is nasally and annoying. I’ve come a long way, but even when I was a bad show host, my shows were good—and this is what matters. Good content has value, and that’s what I love.

Aside from podcasting, here’s a little about me.

I have a formal training background in Hot Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Gravity Yoga, and the Yoga Trapeze. I have studied with some of the most well-respected teachers on the planet. My most influential teachers (all of whom I studied with personally) include Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Paul Dallaghan, Alex Medin, Gabriel Cousens MD, and SN Goenka.

I founded Absolute Yoga Academy in 2006, one of the top 10 yoga teacher training schools in the world with 2,000 certified teachers (and counting) and courses in Thailand, Holland, the United Kingdom, and the Philippines.

In search of nutritional products designed specifically for achy yoga students’ bodies, I worked with Senior Nutritional Formulator Paul Gaylon and founded YOGABODY Naturals in the back of my yoga studio a year later. The company has gone from strength to strength and is now a world-renowned nutrition, education, and publishing organization serving 81 countries.

In 2013, I founded YOGABODY Fitness, a revolutionary new yoga studio business model that pays teachers a living wage and demystifies yoga by making the mind-body healing benefits of the practice accessible to everyone. A foodie at heart, I was a vegan chef and owned and operated health food restaurants prior to diving deep into the yoga world. I’m an acclaimed writer, podcaster (obviously), TV personality, business consultant, weight loss expert, and health coach.

Let’s Dream a Couple Months Forward

If you’ve read this far, I’m assuming you’re excited about this idea. What if you had your own show that was accessible on iTunes, Spotify, and Stitcher Radio all over the world? What if you had a platform to share your ideas, knowledge, and inspirations? What if you had a way to connect and talk with your biggest heroes?

Podcasting is such a unique new media opportunity, and most people have no idea how to get started. My goal with this program is to share with you my hard-earned knowledge and path to success so you too can create a great show for yourself.

If you’re ready to jump in, I’m excited to coach you. Together, we can get your show launched in just six weeks.

Are you ready? Let’s do this….

*IMPORTANT INCOME DISCLAIMER: Podcasting is a fast and simple way for you to create your own personal media asset. This asset can be turned into business, it can be monetized, and you can potentially make great money with your show. But it could also fail. My results are not typical, and your results (if any) may vary. As with any personal and professional decision, please know that to make this work as a business, podcasting requires hard work and dedication, and even then, business is risky by its very nature. If you understand and agree with this, then let’s get started.
